August der Starke war ein leidenschaftlicher Sammler. Tiere hatten es ihm genauso angetan wie luxuriöse Porzellane. Neben großformatigen Meisterleistungen aus Meissener Porzellan, naturbelassen oder handbemalt, entstand in Kaendlers Werkstatt auch eine Vielzahl kleinformatiger Tierfiguren. So inspirierten Fuchs und Eichhörnchen ebenso zu detailtreuen Abbildungen wie der kleine Frosch, dessen Figur 1742 entstand.
Bisher kennen wir den Frosch in einer enorm realistischen sowie detailgetreuen Darstellung. 2021 hat Thomas Lohse dem liebenswürdigen Teichbewohner neues Leben eingehaucht. Handbemalt mit typischen Elementen des Wassers in Blau- und Grüntönen verzaubert die 3 cm hohe Figur "Frosch, Wasserlinsen" im neuen Gewand.
