Zu Beginn des 18.Jahrhunderts schuf der französische Kupferstecher Jaques Callot ein einzigartiges Bilderbuch über jene krüppelhaften Zwerge, die seinerzeit zur Belustigung der hohen Damen und Herren an den Höfen herumtollten. Zwei dieser Typen griff der große Plastiker Paul Scheurich 1929 heraus und setzte sie für Meissen in Porzellan um. Er nahm ihnen dabei das Groteske und verlieh ihnen dafür eine heitere Würde. So fordern sich denn Mlle. Jolicoeur und M.Platfues in ihren Barockkostümen voller Begeisterung gegenseitig zum Tanzen auf.
