Inspiriert von Armin Müller-Stahl in seiner Rolle als Baron Kaspar Joachim von Utz im Film des niederländischen Regisseurs George Sluizer (1992) schuf Strang die Figur "Der Sammler". Nach der gleichnamigen Romanvorlage "Utz" von Bruce Chatwin führt der Film das Schicksal eines leidenschaftlichen Sammlers vor Augen, der sich von seinen Meissener Porzellanfiguren nicht nur nicht trennen kann, sondern sein Leben ganz und gar in den Dienst ihrer Bewahrung und Vermehrung stellt. Mit Hingabe und Liebe zum Kunsthandwerk, die der Leidenschaft des Sammlers in nichts nachstehen, wird die Figur liebevoll handbemalt.
