Wie damals üblich, dienten u.a. Kupferstiche von Jean-Antoine Watteau, Jacques Callot sowie Einflüsse des aufkommenden Klassizismus als seine Vorlagen.

The book captures the lavish multi-day festivities of Baroque court life beautifully, and the gold detailing on the cover really pops in person. I’ve spent hours just flipping through the sections on masquerades and fireworks, it feels like a mini time capsule.
