Um 1735 ist das ungewöhnliche Gefäß mit spiralförmigen Henkeln und hohem Deckel ursprünglich für eine prunkvolle höfische Tafel entstanden - als Eistopf zum Frischhalten von Speisen. In der Tradition von Zeichnungen von Maria Sybilla Merian (1647-1717) steht die Dekoration dieses limitierten Zeugnis' besten Kunsthandwerks des Porzellanmalers Michael Andreas. Ein Meister dieser Malerei, zeichnen sich Andreas' Dekore durch besonders feine Pinselstriche und Details aus wie in den feinen handgemalten Flügeln des Hirschkäfers.
Natürlich kann das Gefäß heutzutage auch zur Aufbewahrung verschiedenster Dinge benutzt werden. In jedem Fall ist es ein außergewöhnlich schönes Zeugnis des MEISSENer Kunsthandwerkes.
