Esel, Böttgersteinzeug, H 7,5 cm

This little donkey has so much character in such a small package – the glazed stoneware feels surprisingly solid and heavy for its size. It’s now sitting proudly on my bookshelf, and the fine details in the modelling really capture the animal’s playful nature.

The little ceramic donkey has such beautiful hand-modeled details in the fur texture, it’s clear the artist really studied real animals. I’m so glad I found this piece, it’s the perfect size for my shelf.

Bought this for a friend who collects ceramic animals, and the detail on the little donkey's ears and mane is remarkably fine for such a small figurine. The glaze has a warm, slightly uneven finish that feels handmade. It's a charming piece.
